Renewal Crew
Questions

Everything we get asked.

If something isn't here, email hello@coverahead.com and a person will answer it.

Who you are

Are you an insurance agency?

No. We're not an agency, a broker or a producer, and nobody here holds an insurance licence. We ask when your policy renews, we check in ahead of time, and we arrange an introduction to a licensed agent if you want one.

So what are you, exactly?

A small private company that collects one piece of information — the month your policy renews — and is paid by licensed agents to introduce them to owners who want a second opinion.

Are you connected to my current agent, or to any insurance company?

No. We're independent of both. We don't represent any insurance company, and we're not part of whoever handles your policy now.

How it works

What happens after I give you the month?

Nothing, until about fifteen weeks before it. Then you get one email from a real person here. If you told us you'd like a second opinion, one licensed agent also gets your details and reaches out.

Why fifteen weeks?

Because three months out is the last point where someone can look at the whole thing with you and still have time to do something about it. How renewals work goes through the months one at a time.

What if I don't know the exact date?

The month is enough — it's all we ask for. If you don't know the month either, it takes about five minutes to find.

Can I just have the reminder, without an introduction?

Yes, and plenty of owners do. Pick "just remind me" on the form and nobody gets your name.

My renewal is next month. Is it too late?

Tell us anyway and say you'd like a second opinion, and we'll pass it straight on. Honestly, inside a few weeks there may not be much room left — but that's the agent's call to make, not ours to guess at.

The introduction

Who will contact me?

One state-licensed insurance agent, chosen for your trade and your area. One — not a panel of them, and not a call centre working a shared list.

What do you tell them about me?

Your name, your business name if you gave us one, your trade, your size, your area and the month it renews. That's everything you told us, and there is nothing else to tell: we never asked what you pay, who you're with or what you carry.

Will they tell me what I could save?

Not on the first call, and you should be wary of anyone who does. Nobody can say anything useful about your situation before they've seen your paperwork. What a second opinion involves describes how it actually goes.

Does it cost me anything?

No. There's no fee to you at any point, from us or from the agent. Licensed agents pay us to arrange introductions.

Am I obliged to do anything?

No. You can end the conversation at any point, and "we're staying where we are" is a perfectly normal outcome.

The agent wasn't useful. Now what?

Tell us. It's the most useful thing you can send us, and it changes who we introduce next time.

What you can't help with

Can you tell me whether I'm covered for something?

No. We're not licensed, so we don't discuss coverage, carriers, limits, deductibles or what you pay — not by email, not on the phone, not ever. A licensed agent can answer that, and the one we introduce you to will.

Can you help with a claim?

No, and we'd only slow you down. Go to whoever handles your policy now.

Can you tell me if my current agent is any good?

No. We've no way to know and no business having an opinion.

Your details

Where did you get my email address?

If we emailed you first, your business details came from public records and commercial business-data sources — the same places anyone can buy a business list from. The disclosures page says exactly what we use and why.

Do you sell my information?

We're paid by a licensed agent to introduce you to them, and only when you asked for an introduction. Under California law that may count as a "sale", so we say so plainly. Nothing goes anywhere else, and you can opt out at any time on this form. The full picture is on the privacy page.

How do I get off your list?

Reply "stop" to any email from us, or use this form. We take you off the same day and keep the address on a suppression list so it can't come back.

Will you call or text me?

Our part of this is email. If you asked for an introduction, the agent may call or text you — that's what you agreed to when you ticked the box, and you can tell them to stop at any time.
