We ask one question and make one introduction.
Renewal Crew is a small, privately owned company. We remind owners of contracting, trucking and manufacturing businesses when their policies are coming up for renewal, and we introduce them to a licensed insurance agent if they want a second opinion.
We are not an insurance agency. Nobody here holds a licence, nobody here sells policies, and nobody here will advise you on one.
Because the only useful part of the year is the part everyone misses.
Trade businesses renew on an anniversary date nobody chose. It lands in the middle of a job, it gets signed in ten minutes, and the one window where an owner could have looked at the whole thing properly closes without anyone noticing it was open.
Every agent in the country knows this. Almost none of them are in front of an owner three months out, because getting there means knowing a date nobody collects. So we collect the date, we check in ahead of time, and we introduce the owners who want a second opinion to an agent who works with their trade.
That's the entire business. It isn't clever and it doesn't need to be.
How we're paid
Licensed agents pay us to arrange introductions. You're never charged anything.
Two things worth knowing about that. First, we're paid for the introduction itself, not for what you decide afterwards — so nobody here has any reason to push you toward a particular answer, and nobody here would know what the right answer was anyway. Second, an agent paying us doesn't make them ours: they're an independent business, and what happens in your conversation with them is between the two of you.
Under California law, being paid to pass your details to an agent may count as a "sale" of your information. We'd rather say so than bury it — the privacy page explains it, and you can opt out at any time.
What we do
- Ask what month your policy renews.
- Email you once, about fifteen weeks before it.
- Introduce you to one licensed agent, if you ask for one.
- Stop, the same day, if you tell us to.
What we don't do
- Sell insurance, or advise on it. We're not licensed and we don't pretend to be.
- Discuss coverage, carriers, limits, deductibles or what you pay. If you ask us, we'll tell you a licensed agent can answer that.
- Tell you what you'll pay, or promise you a saving. We have no idea, and neither does anyone who hasn't seen your paperwork.
- Put your name on a shared list, or sell it on to anyone beyond the one agent you asked us to introduce you to.
- Call you. Our part of this is email.
Who we work with
On one side, owners in three markets: contractors, small trucking fleets, and manufacturers — machine shops, fabricators, welders, molders and millwork. On the other, independent agencies that write business for those trades and want to be in front of owners early rather than late.
We keep introductions exclusive by trade and area. One owner goes to one agent, which is the only version of this that's fair to either of them.
How to reach us
Email hello@coverahead.com and a person will answer. If you want off our list, this form is faster than asking.
Want the reminder?
Pick your trade. It takes about thirty seconds, and the second opinion is optional.
